So, do you want to get some traffic for your website?

This is always the number one question I get on a daily basis. “How do I get free traffic” to my site?

These questions can be answered in many ways, but I want to point out something very important before I give you some techniques. Free traffic requires work! It may very well be free, but it’s something you need to do every day. Ok, with that said, here are some tactics:

1. Article Marketing – Simply write articles like this and submit them to high traffic article directories. EzineArticles, Goarticles, Buzzle, Searchwarp and many more…

two. Forums – Find forums that are in your niche and post to them every day with your signature at the bottom of all your comments. Remember to have a link to your website in the signature box. Search “your niche” + forums on Google to find some well-known and visited forums. Example, “skin care forums”.

3. Press releases: Yes, I said press releases, this is not just for big companies anymore. Anyone can write a press release these days about newsworthy events happening in their business. For example, let’s say I just launched a new website or product, I could write press releases about it, and if it was well written, I could expect some decent volumes of traffic. If you don’t know how to write a press release, just type “How to Write an Effective Press Release on Google” and you’ll be given some really good examples… Believe me, I did the same thing when I started.

Four. Video Marketing: This is important and you need to get involved RIGHT NOW! If you haven’t been using video marketing, you’re missing out on one of the best ways to increase traffic to your site. Videos are huge these days. Let me give you some tips on how to optimize your video to get more views.

• Make sure your keyword is in your title, if you can put it twice it will give you an even better boost to get more views. For example, if my keyword was “secret acne cure,” I could make my title something like Secret Acne Cure: Discover the Least Talked About Secret Acne Cure. Something like that, you get the point, this will help, believe me.
• Make sure to put your URL in the description… Obviously correct! So that other people can click on it when they see your video.
• Place your keyword throughout your description, once at the beginning, once in the middle, and once at the end. (Make sure you write a strong description, maybe around 200 words or more.

5. Classified Ads – Classified ads can get you some good traffic, but I found that you need to post them often, the more they marry the ads, but also make sure they don’t look spammy. What I mean is that while you should post an ad once a day if you can, make sure they are presentable so that when someone sees your ad, they actually read it!

6. Socail media/Web 2.0: Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, YouTube, LinkDin, StumbleUpon, Squidoo – all of these places can be used for free targeted traffic. Remember that these are social communities, so when you engage with these sites, don’t just throw links from left to right. Meet people, become an expert in any niche you are in. I hope these ideas get you started, just play around with them, see which ones work best for you, and then build on those strategies.
