The missing link between fairy tales and bridal shower gifts

Do you remember when you were a little kid, watching The Little Mermaid or even Beauty and the Beast? As charming as these children’s movies were and still are, they had some familiarities. Everyone knows that the Little Mermaid finds love, and of all places she is not under the sea, just like the main character in Beauty and the Beast.

The two main characters in these films meet their own Prince Charming. Now that you know how the plots unfold, they fall in a kind of forbidden love and get married. Now that there are weddings in these two movies, how come we never see bachelorette party favors or bachelorette party favors? Were these two shockingly beautiful and stunning princesses deprived of a bachelorette party? Looks like old Walt Disney overlooked a thing or two when putting these movies together.

with Mrs. Solo featuring the Tea Pot and Sebastian personalities, one would normally conclude that surely no stone was left unturned when it came to wedding timing and planning. With movie characters so full of life and energy, how could they leave out a bachelorette party for their key princesses? I guess this is not something kids see, or rather don’t see in these movies. This is because, as we get older, we tend to pay more attention to the truths in movies. I honestly can’t think of a single kids’ movie that has a wedding, actually shows a bachelorette party, or even mentions it.

Surely if the old philosophy that “life imitates art” is true, then they should include something as simple as a bachelorette party. I personally can’t imagine how something as simple and monumental as a bachelorette party was completely skipped over by the greatest filmmakers in all of history. However, as a child, I just didn’t pay attention to details, which is why this little fact didn’t bother me back then. It’s not so much that it annoys or irritates me now in my adulthood, but it irritates me that such a detail-oriented company overlooks and neglects an important one when it comes to fairy tale weddings.

It’s not just the bachelorette parties that got lost. How many movies from your childhood that had weddings also had bachelor parties? I’ll tell you how many, absolutely none! The closest we’ve come as kids to seeing bachelor or bachelorette parties was in the old Popeye cartoons. Yeah, that’s right, remember Olive being showered with gifts in the episode where Popeye proposed? Or how about in that same episode Popeye goes to a boxing match with his friends. These aren’t actually bachelor or bridal showers and bachelorette parties; however, they are the closest we have come to seeing them as children.

If you could create your own cartoon featuring weddings with bridal showers and bachelor parties, how would you do it? Would you make these parties as fairytale-like as the weddings themselves, or would you insinuate about them and not portray them like cartoon Popeye did? I guess it’s true that some things have to be left to the imagination, especially when it comes to these pre-wedding celebrations in children’s movies.
