The Hemp Network: Is It A Viable MLM Business Opportunity?

There is now a multi-level marketing (MLM) business established to provide hemp and wellness related products to the masses. Hemp is a plant that has been around for thousands of years capable of producing food, fuel, and fiber and is used in numerous applications, including textiles, paper, and composites for manufacturing. According to myhempsystem.com, hemp contains less than 1% THC, the psychoactive ingredient in Cannabis Sativa Linnaeus. In other words, hemp is to marijuana what non-alcoholic beer is to beer.

What is the hemp network?
The Hemp Network is an MLM division of Medical Marijuana Inc. Medical Marijuana Inc. is an Oregon corporation founded in March 2009 that provides an efficient and secure infrastructure for the medical marijuana industry. The creators of The Hemp Network believe that there is a growing demand for hemp-based products, so they are responding to that demand by establishing a multi-level marketing model for its distribution.

Who is behind it and when did it start?
Don Steinberg and Bruce Perlowin are at the helm of the company. The only thing they have done in the past is create the largest telecommunications network marketing company in the world. I guess that’s good enough, right? They bring that experience along with a team of advisors and associates that includes immunologists, formulators, Ph.D.’s, PhD’s, marketing teams, software engineers and more.

According to Npros.com, The Hemp Network has been in pre-launch and was scheduled to officially launch on June 1, 2010. However, on thehempnetwork.com, it mentions that the company was starting pre-launch on August 28, 2010. Anyway, it seems that the company is gaining momentum with more than 1000 international hemp consultants (IHC) so far. Additionally, parent company Medical Marijuana Inc. is planning the largest cannabis/wellness event ever held in the Midwest at the Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan in late October 2010.

What is the Compensation Plan?
According to myhempsystem.com, there is no cost to be a member of The Hemp Network. The company is using a hybrid payment plan which is a one-way global power stretch at the front where everyone who signs up sits below everyone else for the first time, with a Unilevel payment plan at the back. What? Okay, where are Amway and their circles when you need them? I need to see this drawn on paper! Anyway, the easiest way to say it is that when you sponsor someone on The Hemp Network, that person appears in the Global Power Leg at the bottom and your first level in your Unilevel backend. They are using the Global Power Leg for bonuses and a motivating factor for the IHCs to see all the people below them. Makes a lot of sense, right?

Is The Hemp Network a viable opportunity?
The fact that the hemp industry has been around for thousands of years and that the product has such a wide variety of uses is a huge plus. The question is, can The Hemp Network compete in the crowded category of wellness products? Being the first company to bring hemp to network marketing gives them a good start for sure. It also helps to have two guys running the show who have built massive MLM companies in the past.
