New Years Eve in London

New Year’s Eve is a time to celebrate the past year and toast the future with family and friends. London’s New Year’s Eve party is one of the biggest and best in the world and a great place to ring in the new year. The world famous event draws crowds of more than 250,000 people each year.

So what does this popular spot have to offer? Well, there’s the Mayor’s famous midnight fireworks display on the Southbank over the Thames. This magnificent fireworks display has been growing and improving each year and is sure to wow thousands of spectators again in 2012. The best view of the fireworks is from the River Thames, but there are other designated viewing areas available between Waterloo and Lambeth on the north and south banks. New Year’s celebrations in London do not end at midnight, but last until New Year’s Day itself, with the famous New Year’s Day parade. This passes the Ritz Hotel, Trafalgar Square and Big Ben. The parade is particularly loved by children, with its musicians, cheerleaders and marching bands from around the world.
