Learn to speak Spanish fast in less than 3 months!

Hello senior! How are you? Very well! A cat in half pants!

That’s all the Spanish I knew. Don’t ask me where I learned that last sentence. I don’t remember very well, but it stayed.

But this isn’t about how he couldn’t speak Spanish. It’s about how can I speak Spanish. And how I learned in less than 3 months to speak it fluently.

However, let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

A couple of months ago my family presented me with the idea of traveling to Spain. Now neither of us knew Spanish, but we always loved traveling to new places. We figured we’d learn all we needed to by picking up a phrase book and listening to the locals talk.

That sounded like a good plan… for my family. I wanted to speak Spanish WITH the locals and engage in conversations with people I would probably never see again…unless we got along so well I DID see them again! That would be the ultimate goal!

I wanted to learn Spanish as fluently as possible in less than 4 months before the trip.

Now, I knew some Spanish… since elementary school. Hello! it was all she remembered, and I’m sure that’s all 90% of students remember from their primary education. It’s a shame we don’t have a better system to teach us the language… but that’s another story.

So I started searching the Internet for a source where I could learn Spanish. Maybe a tutor could help me… so I looked that up. The tutors seemed to me, quite simply, very expensive. I couldn’t afford to spend much more at the time since we were saving for the big vacation! That was the main event after all!

After searching for tutors, I got a bit discouraged. Time ticked by at the relentless pace it always seems to follow. But I wouldn’t give up that easily!

I went back to the World Wide Web. There had to be something in there that could help me… I mean, this was the internet for screaming out loud! The peak of our civilization! You can find anything in this great server connection! I’m sure someone had SOME information on how to learn Spanish fast… right?

After about 3 weeks I was going to give up. After all, how was I going to learn Spanish in just over 3 months? I decided to spend one last day searching and that would be it. If I couldn’t find anything, I’d give up the stressful search and get the phrase book and collect as much as I could while I was there. I figured it would at least be satisfying… I mean I’d be in Spain anyway, that was the main goal after all… to see the world!

However, that last day I did find something.

He claimed that he could learn Spanish in less than 3 months. What a coincidence I thought to myself… almost exactly how long I have.

Anyway, I kept reading the long sales letter, maybe out of coincidence of timing, maybe out of desperation, or maybe out of genuine interest. I really don’t know, but I read it.

Once again, the letter promised that I would speak Spanish in 3 months if I took the course. There were tons of compelling testimonials and letters on the page…

But as soon as my enthusiasm came, it collapsed. As I sat in front of my computer, looking at possibly one of the only things that could help me, a terrible thought came to mind. Money. If tutors were that expensive, this would have to be completely out of my budget.

I had the idea to close the window right then and there to keep me from getting more nervous only to be knocked down by the price at the end.

But I did not. I kept reading. I read the whole page. He was excited. He was smiling. He prayed for some miracle so he could afford it. Maybe we could go to some less expensive hotels in Spain… I mean, what value can you put on knowing Spanish for a trip to Spain? Absorb the culture…talk to the locals, learn how they interact…understand them speaking! It sounded like euphoria to a traveler.

Objective I did not take shortcuts. It was much cheaper than I thought it would be.

So I bought it.

So I studied and studied and studied. I listened and listened and listened. I even played games that they had to learn! I played and played and played. However, the most important thing is that I learned and learned and learned.

I was able to learn Spanish in 3 months. I was able to go to Spain and speak and understand almost every word they said! And when I didn’t understand, I could just ask them in Spanish to tell me what they meant!

Along the way I made some friends in Spain. It was wonderful. I remember that one of them asked me how long he had been speaking Spanish. Apparently he was impressed with my abilities. I told him about 3 months. He gasped and he told me that was the most amazing thing that he had probably ever heard from him and that he was going to go home and tell his kids about it. I laughed at myself afterwards.

In the end, Spain was a lot of fun. I made friends that I never would have been able to make if I hadn’t known Spanish. I was even able to teach my family a few things! They were still mostly using the phrasebook, so I ended up being the translator! It was wonderful!

Not only did I have so much fun in Spain being able to understand and speak Spanish to native speakers… but now my family and I go to a Spanish speaking country every few years!

Honestly, it’s one of the biggest assets I’ve ever had… being able to speak and understand a different language. Spanish is one of the largest and ever-growing languages in existence.

spanish rocks! Learn to speak it!
