Corvette Performance Parts

To the average eye, the Corvette doesn’t fit into the category of needing more power or extra performance, to the car enthusiast, there’s never enough power and you can never get too much performance. Whether you’re in the first category or the second, you’ve found your way here, so you must be looking for some kind of upgrade. And since we all have different abilities when it comes to being mechanics, we’ll focus on the not-so-difficult-to-install performance parts for the Corvette. The fact that the power is going to increase does not mean that a professional is going to be needed to install it. Or maybe you would like to think you are a professional. After any of these updates, you can feel like you are one. Bolt on updates.

Starting at the front and working backwards. The first update starts under the hood. It is a cold air intake system. I have installed these and if I can do it anyone can. It will take around 30 minutes depending on your understanding of the instructions, but most instructions come complete with step-by-step pictures. The best thing about cold air intake systems is that they are really easy to install and because of their ease, you get a lot out of them. Expecting an additional 25 horsepower isn’t out of the question with around 30 ft/lbs of torque as well. The way these systems create more power for the Corvette is by increasing airflow to the engine. Engines need to breathe just like any of us and when the engine isn’t getting the maximum amount of air, it’s not running at its best. They can also increase your gas mileage by a couple of miles per gallon while driving conservatively.

Moving under the dash is a five to ten minute installation of a performance chip or tuner. With these you won’t even need to lift a single tool. They simply plug under the dash into the OBD-II diagnostic port. Once connected to the OBD-II diagnostic port, complete on-screen instructions will guide you through downloading the new performance programming. Simply unplug it after installation is complete and go for a drive. Typically you can expect gains of over 25 hp at the rear wheels and an additional 25+ ft/lbs of torque, if you have the Z06 that comes stock with more power you can expect to gain even more. Like the air intakes, they will also improve fuel consumption as long as there is no race going on.

Now let’s get to the really fun stuff. Under the Corvette you don’t see that often, but if you follow all those pipes back you should see the beauty of the exhaust tips. Installing an exhaust system will take a little longer and be more difficult, but it will be worth the work. The exhaust systems work in line with the other two but do not have to go together. They will improve hp, torque and miles per gallon. The best thing about any of these systems is the sound that comes with them and the new look. Whether you’re a car enthusiast or the guy who just wanted to buy a Corvette, everyone will enjoy the beautiful sound a performance exhaust will produce. They will transform any Corvette from an everyday car to an every minute car. It will let everyone know you are coming.
