I have noticed in some of my website traffic stats that several people have found my website or blog on Google by asking this question. Do people like Corian sinks?

Like almost everything, there are those who love them and think that they are the best thing that can happen to a kitchen countertop. On the other hand, I often come across people who absolutely hate their Corian sink. And by the way, I say “Corian” sink, but it actually works the same for all brands of solid surface. Although there are serious and definite differences in quality from one solid surface sink to another, the issues that determine whether people like them or not are basically the same.

The main thing that people love about their Corian sinks is the under-counter recessed installation. Provides a smooth ride for any crumbs or messes you wipe off the countertop. There is no part of the sink above the counter, so there is nothing to get in the way of catching crumbs and messes around the edges of the sink, which would require extra effort to clean.

Another benefit that makes people love their Corian sink is the fact that there is nothing to seal or caulk. It’s just that it’s nice and simple with no more maintenance than basic cleaning.

What most people complain about with Corian sinks is the stains that will occur if you don’t keep on top of keeping the sink clean. Life keeps people very busy, and the hectic routine of the day can make it more likely that you will pour your last coffee down the sink and then walk out the door before it goes down the drain. If things like coffee, tea, or other colored liquids are left to sit in the sink and not cleaned up almost immediately, the yellowish-brown stain becomes a major source of homeowner unhappiness.

If they get stained, they can be brought back to good condition with a vigorous cleaning, but most homeowners don’t know exactly how to do a vigorous cleaning. They usually give it a gentle clean and maybe let the sink sit with bleach and then drain it. That alone won’t do it, but I’ll get to that in another article.

Do people like Corian sinks? Yes and no.
