Cocktail hour with fashion designer

Chic is a new ‘must have’ for summer 2008. Love is in the air and filled with romantic nostalgia when it comes to women’s wardrobe.

The focal point of the new season’s fashion is the silhouette, freely shaped and shaped with layers of fabric, asymmetrical cuts, pleats, ruches in a crossover mood between yesterday and today.

A burst of colours, embroideries and lace invade a woman’s wardrobe. She begins by wearing luscious lingerie petticoats trimmed with leather belts at her hips and skimpy dresses with masses of spiky ruffles. With a touch of romanticism, knitted mini-dresses flaunting roses and gym-chic pullovers and sweatpants in luxe versions. Short lengths with mini hems predominate and many styles of disappearing shorts for evenings that are enhanced with long caftans covered in sparkling sequins.

Dresses are the stars of Spring-Summer 2008. Look for soft and slippery fabrics with transparent and translucent textures that glide to highlight the revival of the tracksuit. The prints as always are dictating their rules. Rich fabrics full of vertical and horizontal stripes that play with a desire for graphic lines that takes the lead. Macro geometric patterns and huge flowers will be popular this season, bringing a couture femininity to a woman’s revitalizing look.

Highlights of this season:

GREAT PRINTS. Look for colors and contrast. Red, yellow, green, black, white and pink will do. Disproportionate prints, but elegant and chic. Feel free to pair it with a strong cotton jacket or a pair of leggings.

RUFFLES and RUCHES will bring a playful and innocent look to any woman. Long or short dresses, with an empire waist and adorned with pinups, large flowers. Wear them for any social occasion you may have – cocktail party or dream prom. Frivolous crochet, romantic prints, stylized plants and charming embroidery are also on the list for this summer. The SIGNATURE DRESS this season is the ONESHOULDER dress. The asymmetrical cut accentuates femininity and adds a touch of seduction.

The accessories are declared as ‘essential’ in each look. Go crazy with the bags: oversized versions for a sleek and confident look, and extra small for a more sophisticated feel. Do not forget about pearls, necklaces, cuffs, scarves and belts. And, of course, every woman’s favourite, ‘The Shoes’. High heels are ‘a must have’ for this summer. These shoes are already doing all the work for you. They do their job of elongating and showing off their legs, then the rest is just play. The wedges are excavated and lighter, showing a sculpted void. Sandals, also for the day, with shiny sequins or split leather in contrast with fluorescent sparkles with reflective effects. Ankle straps that wrap around like spirals will be in high demand. Disproportionately elongated platform heels and peep toe styles with crescent cutouts. Do not forget about the stilettos, curvilinear, outlined and slanted. As for the evening look, pamper yourself with a pair of beautiful shoes decorated with jewels and embroidery and covered with pearls and crystals.
